“You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream.”*
It was a cold, cloudy day and I was craving for a good story. I decided to watch a Miss Marple episode. I have become a fan of Agatha Christie in recent years. It all started when my son told me his teacher encouraged him to read a Christie novel. I realized that I had never read one myself. Since that day, I have come to enjoy Christies’ shining detectives, Miss Jane Marple and Mr. Hercule Poirot.
After watching the BBC production of one of Christie’s novels that day, I was struck by something else — the actress, Joan Hickson. I have heard that Agatha Christie herself suggested that Joan Hickson play Miss Marple. Even more striking though is the fact that she took on the role of Miss Marple at the age of 78 and continued to play her on camera for another 8 years. It became Joan Hickson’s defining role as an actress. It is such a wonderful reminder that it is never too late to start something new.
What is something you would like to do?
Have you been carrying a secret dream in your heart? What is it?
